The JIM PAQUETTE Bio

Based on a True Story

ANCIENT HISTORY

Somewhere between Four Billion and Five Billion years ago, I was in High School.  I played in several Night Ranger cover bands, was a news anchor on a HS news program, and won several awards for acting in the Theater.  Since Thespian employment was at an all time low, I decided to make my living playing Bob Seger and Jimmy Buffet songs in bars.

THE EARLY NINETIES

I prematurely migrated south at the age of 21, leaving Long Island for South Florida.  I worked my way up the local musician ladder, playing keyboards, guitar, and singing.  Within a year I was playing music in some of the hottest clubs in town ( In all fairness, many of the clubs were outdoors, they were more humid than hot).

DUELING PIANOS

Around 1997, I realized my days of believing I could someday be Richard Marx were over.  So I started doing the dueling piano show. I started at a club called Daddio's, in down town West Palm Beach.  Since then, I've been playing at Howl at the Moon, in Ft Lauderdale and Miami, and Hugh Jorgan's Dueling Piano Bar in Delray Beach, among other places.

SONGWRITING

I used to try to write like Lennon and McCartney, then I used to try and write like Billy Joel, at one point I tried to write like Debbie Gibson.   Lately I've been writing for fun (see my CD).  My song "B*I*T*C*H", was well received at the Nashville songwriting contest, SONGMAINIA, sponsored by the SGA.  It's also becoming a popular song in Dueling Piano bars around the country.

THE FUTURE AND BEYOND IT

Performing... songwriting... touring... dueling... comedy... radio?  Who knows what the future holds.  Certainly not I, but something untested and fun I hope.
